Frequently Asked Questions
1. How do I know if my car can carry EzyCamp?
All roof racks have to comply with their Countries Bureau of Standards requirements. These standards dictate the maximum weight a roof rack can carry while a vehicle is travelling. All roof rack manufacturers are required to publish the maximum amount of carrying capacity for different vehicles whilst in motion. Information relating to your specific vehicle's motion carrying capacity can be found on the roof rack manufacturers' websites, or email us at sales@ezycamp.com for further information. The ‘EzyCamp Standard Kit' weighs under 90kg and can be fitted on all vehicles whose roof racks allow for this weight whilst in motion. If you have existing roof racks, confirm their in motion carrying capacity with your roof rack manufacturer.

2. How many roof racks will I need to carry EzyCamp?
Three. If your vehicle cannot accommodate 3 roof racks (as illustrated in the photos), you can use 2 roof racks together with our unique tow bar support, which replaces the need for a third roof rack.

3. I drive a small car, can I still use EzyCamp?
Yes, provided your vehicle's roof racks have an in-motion weight bearing capacity of at least 90kg. If your vehicle cannot accommodate 3 roof racks, you can use 2 roof racks together with our unique tow bar support, which replaces the need for a third roof rack.

4. Are there preferred roof rack mountings?
We only recommend 3 types of mountings: (i) factory mounting points already installed by the vehicle manufacturer; (ii) gutter mountings; (iii) channel mountings. We don't recommend the use of any other type of mountings.

5. My roof racks are not a meter wide, can I still use EzyCamp?
Yes. Extensions are available from EzyCamp to lengthen roof racks which are shorter than 980mm. For further information, contact us at sales@ezycamp.com

6. How many people can sleep in EzyCamp?
EzyCamp expands to a super king-size (1800mm by 2020mm) bed when fully erected, accommodating 2 adults and 2 children comfortably.

7. But 2 adults and 2 children weigh more than 90kg.
The minimum 90kg weight requirement only relates to vehicles in motion. Australian Standards don't regulate the maximum weight capacity of roof racks whilst the vehicle is stationary. However, they do require the manufacturers to conduct a range of tests at approximately 4 times the motion rated amount whilst stationary (e.g. 4 x 90kg = 360kg). For additional peace of mind and safety, approximately half of the occupied weight is transferred to the ground via EzyCamp's sturdy ladder.

8. My vehicle is not big enough to carry a 2.02m x 1.8m king-size bed platform.
A closed EzyCamp measures only 1.02m x 2.25m. It automatically expands to a king-size bed at the push of a button.

9. Will EzyCamp cause wind drag and increase fuel consumption?
EzyCamp's aerodynamic shape has been engineered to minimize wind drag, resulting in a negligible increase in fuel consumption.

10. We are an older couple, how can we lift and remove 90kg onto and from the roof racks?
Two adjustable support arms act as a lifting and lowering device. These arms increasingly absorb EzyCamp's weight as it is lifted onto the vehicle.

11. Can EzyCamp be set up on the ground?
Yes, with minimal effort.

12. How do I store EzyCamp?
Storage wheels are supplied. When EzyCamp is standing on its storage wheels, it stands at 2.25m high. This is lower than most countries building code ceiling height regulations of 2.4m. It can then be wheeled into a convenient space and stored like a wardrobe.

13. Will erecting and closing EzyCamp drain my car battery?
It only takes 30 seconds to erect or close EzyCamp (similar energy used to heat up a car lighter). The electric motor switches off automatically when the limit is reached (ie. When EzyCamp is fully erected or closed).

14. What do I do if my battery fails?
A manual crank handle is provided.

15. What if my vehicle isn't fitted with a cigarette lighter?
Electric crocodile clips are supplied to connect the motor control switch directly to your car battery.

16. How stable is EzyCamp in windy weather?
EzyCamp has been engineered to reduce discomfort during windy conditions. Tensioned wind braces secure the roof to the floor. Together with the expanded canvas, they provide a composite stable structure. In high wind conditions, EzyCamp has the added benefit of being able to be erected on the ground, where its 90kg weight provides extra stability.

17. Is EzyCamp's outer shell UV stable?

Yes.

18. Is EzyCamp's canvas waterproof?
Yes, it is waterproof and of superior quality.

19. Does EzyCamp carry a warranty?
Yes. EzyCamp carries a 12 month warranty on manufacturing faults or defects, from date of delivery.
